Dr. Jean Saayman is a Project and Product Development Engineer in Powertech’s Stations Research & Development section, where he is responsible for continued research in online decontamination and reconditioning of insulating oils. He also manages Powertech projects for implementing these online oil reconditioning services.
Dr. Sasi Sasitharan is a technical leader and project manager on Powertech’s NDT Inspections team, providing a diverse array of testing and consultation services including non-destructive testing, civil and seismic engineering, and on-site inspections. His fields of interest include laboratory and field testing of soils, embankment dam surveillance and seepage investigation, seismic design, geomembrane technology, and carbon sequestration. He has authored numerous publications on these subjects. He is a registered professional engineer in the Province of British Columbia and is a member of the Canadian Geotechnical Engineering Society.
Ms. Leanne Sharpe is a Project Engineer for the Hydrogen Infrastructure team within the Advanced Transportation sector at Powertech Labs. In this position, she plans, supervises, and implements a variety of major multidisciplinary projects for global utilities, OEMs, research and government organizations. Leanne has a background in Engineering Physics, Electrical/Controls Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, and has over 10 years’ experience as a project manager in alternative energy, forestry and oil & gas industries. She is a registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
Mr. Ben Skillings is the Manager of the Mechanical Lab in the T&D Technology and Testing department at Powertech Labs. As a mechanical engineer with a machinist background, Ben has proven himself to be a proficient leader and a knowledgeable team member within the electric utility industry. He has 15 years’ professional engineering and trades experience and has established broad knowledge in design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance.
Mr. Reza Soltani is the Team Lead for Generation Electrical Services within the Generation Technology and Testing sector at Powertech Labs. He is an Electrical Engineer who has extensive experience in design, testing and evaluation of insulation systems of high voltage rotating machines. With more than 17 years of experience, he leads the Generation Services team who provide a variety of diagnostic tests and accelerated aging programs for evaluation of stator bars/coils, as well as condition assessment and site testing for large rotating machines.
Mr. Giuseppe Stanciulescu is the Business Development Specialist for the Client Engagement group at Powertech Labs. He is responsible for the customer engagement relation with BC Hydro, identifying customer needs, committing new services, as well as recognizing business opportunities to increase revenue. Giuseppe is a member of IEEE and is a registered engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
Mr. Glenn Stark is a Senior Materials and Corrosion Engineer and Project Manager with Powertech’s Materials Solutions lab. Through 15 years of engineering practice he has developed expertise in a diverse range of consulting engineering services.
Mr. Bruce Sunga is the Director of the Substations Technology and Testing sector at Powertech Labs. He brings more than 25 years of commercial, industrial and electric utility experience in areas of stations and system planning, analytical studies, asset management, project management, design, automation, R&D, construction, testing, commissioning and acceptance, failure investigation and maintenance. The Substations Technology and Testing sector is comprised of two world-renowned labs (High power/High Current and Applied Chemistry – fuels and lubes, polymers, environment, insulating oils and gases), a prestigious R&D and investigations group, a substations studies group, and field testing services and asset management group.
Mr. Tom Szakacs is a Nondestructive Testing Specialist Leader carrying out maintenance inspections throughout BC Hydro facilities and for contractors requiring maintenance overhaul support in NDT methods. Mr. Szakacs consults with engineers within BC Hydro and with outside contractors in support of NDT and weld inspections of fabricated components and repairs.
