Dr. Linfeng Cao is an Engineer with Powertech’s High Voltage Laboratory. He has worked extensively in field testing on underground cables with an emphasis on partial discharge measurements. In addition, he conducts a full range of qualification and certification tests in accordance with all relevant industry standards, as well as custom testing solutions.
Dr. Stuart Chambers is the manager of R&D, Investigation & Consulting, as well as a lead for the polymer and materials investigation facility in Powertech’s Stations Research & Development lab under the Substations Technology & Testing group. His areas of research and development include transformer diagnostics, insulating paper degradation, ageing properties of insulating oils, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) decontamination. He has completed substantial research into insulating solids, fluids and gases for Canadian Electrical Association (CEATI), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), BC Hydro and other research organizations.
Dr. Chambers is a materials/analytical chemist with 15 years of experience and training. His areas of expertise and interest include materials preparation, alteration and characterization, and chromatography/purification.
Mr. Sid Cherukupalli is a Project Engineer working in the Mechanical Laboratory in the T&D Technology and Testing department at Powertech Labs. On average, he coordinates 20 independent mechanical and electrical tests on a monthly basis, efficiently maintaining project schedules and deliverable deadlines for each.
His experience in project management encompasses scope creation, data analysis and report generation. This includes various test programs such as mechanical failure, fatigue cycling, thermal stress, and vibration stress testing.
Mr. Cherukupalli is frequently involved in multi-disciplinary projects which often require the use of mechanical, electrical, and material engineering practices.
Kevin Cheong is a Senior Manager for Electric Vehicle Infrastructure in the Advanced Transportation sector. He oversees planning and execution of charging infrastructure systems for battery electric vehicles. In this role, Kevin works with clients and government agencies on siting, technology assessment, and operation of new charging infrastructure, and develops plans for public outreach and education on infrastructure issues.
Mr. Colin Cindrich has eight years of experience in engineering design in different disciplines and five years of experience in project management in different industries. As a Senior Test Engineer with Powertech’s Advanced Transportation team, Mr. Cindrich manages testing programs of hydrogen vehicle components and works closely with clients to determine effective test schedules and parameters.
Mr. Logan Connaughton manages Powertech’s High Power Lab under the Substation Technology & Testing group. He is responsible for providing electrical testing services, failure analysis, and consultation to power equipment manufacturers and utilities with custom test programs or in accordance with international standards, including: IEEE, IEC, CSA, ANSI, and UL. He has extensive experience performing temperature rise testing, thermal cycling, and accelerated aging, short-circuit testing, instrument accuracy and power quality measurements. Mr. Connaughton has also been responsible for the machine insulation testing services at Powertech since 2012 and has experience performing quality assurance testing on stator bars and coils since 2007.
Mr. Eugene Crozier is a Wireless Specialist for the Grid Modernization sector at Powertech Labs. His work is focused on use of wireless systems such as WiMAX and LTE for critical infrastructure industries, and 4G based wireless and wireline solutions for backhaul and relay systems.
