POWERTECH CONTRIBUTES TO THE APRIL ISSUE OF IEEE POWER & ENERGY MAGAZINE

Powertech collaborates with the IEEE Power & Energy magazine this month to share their research and development in wind power operation controls and security.

As part of this editorial, Powertech addresses the complex issue of variability, uncertainty, location, and new technology impacting the integration of wind power into a grid system.

“The technology in the Wind Security Assessment Tool (WSAT) deployed at EirGrid’s National Control Center enables engineers to monitor the security of their power system at real time, and to provide remedial actions if any security criteria are violated. This helps maintain the reliability of system operation, especially when the wind generation output is high,” said Dr. Lei Wang, Manager of the Software Technologies group at Powertech.

The Software Technologies group and the Power System Studies group at Powertech continue to use the dynamic and flexible tools provided by DSATools™ software suite. These software tools are crucial to ensure the security of the grid under all system conditions.

Powertech will be attending the IEEE T&D Tradeshow (booth #3148) in May 2012 and IEEE PES general meeting in July 2012. If you’re planning your trip, please stop by our booth or our hospitality suite to speak with one of our software technology engineers.
