Engineers from the Advanced Transportation, Electric Vehicles group at Powertech Labs have managed the installation of seven new charging stations on Vancouver Island. Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Amarjeet Sohi, said the $1.05 million federal investment in these charging stations will make electric and alternative fuel vehicles a viable travel option for B.C. residents, and are designed to reduce “range anxiety” for these drivers. These charger installations are a part of BC Hydro’s first phase of the Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative, which will result in the installation of 21 new fast charging stations throughout the province by the end of 2018.
