BIV MAGAZINE FEATURES POWERTECH’S PARTNERSHIP WITH EMILY CARR UNIVERSITY OF ART & DESIGN

In the May 16th, 2011 issue of Business In Vancouver magazine, Powertech and Emily Carr University of Art and Design demonstrate the value of incorporating design thinking into technology innovation.

Powertech’s partnership with Emily Carr University, championed by Mari Nurminen, Senior Advisor, Strategic Planning, focused on innovative solutions for clean transportation in its first year. Mari’s understanding of the benefits of design thinking was instrumental in creating a unique opportunity for students wishing to apply their industrial design skills to real-world projects. Powertech’s engineers were also critical for the success of the partnership, as they helped students to solve some of the technical challenges in their solutions.

This joint venture between Emily Carr and Powertech continues to be very successful. From Powertech’s perspective, these bright and talented design students have provided new approaches to address innovation and end-user needs; enhancing the usability design elements of products to support the organization’s endeavours to support companies involved with technology innovation.
